In the latest issue of the Channel Islands business magazine, BL, journalist Emma De Vita speaks to a select group of experienced fiduciary professionals to pose the question: do female clients need female advisers?
With more female ultra-high-net-worth individuals than ever before and private wealth held by women continuing to increase exponentially, this question reflects the historic male dominance within the private wealth industry and consequent lack of understanding around the specific needs of female private clients.
The article therefore takes a look at current changes within the industry in relation to the rising prominence of women, examining whether female clients expect to deal with female service providers and whether firms without a full complement of women within their client service teams risk missing out.
Among the professionals consulted for this piece is our very own Lorraine Wheeler. Lorraine is one of our Jersey-based client services directors, who has over 30 years of experience in the fiduciary sector including several years in Bermuda and Switzerland. Lorraine is a well-known player in the local industry and regularly participates in industry events. Previously Chair of STEP Jersey, Lorraine has achieved the prestigious STEP Founder’s Award and is currently Vice President of the Jersey Association of Trust Companies (JATCo).
