Jenny ORiordan - GDPR

European data protection legislation will undergo a major overhaul this week as the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) comes into force on 25 May 2018. The new regime applies to all businesses that offer goods and services for sale in the EU, or process the personal information of EU residents – even if those businesses are located outside of the EU.

Given this extra-territorial reach, GDPR was one of the key topics discussed in the latest Asia-focused e-newsletter from our funds business, Moore Management. In her article, Moore’s Head of Legal, Jenny O’Riordan, explains GDPR and how it applies to the Japanese funds industry, as well as detailing what Moore and First Names Group have been doing to ready ourselves for this Friday’s deadline.
